- GRIT (Graduated and reciprocated initiative in tension reduction) : GRIT which is the acronym of Graduated and reciprocated initiative in tension reduction is a strategy for resolving a mixed-motive dilemma, in which one party announces its intention to cooperate and then behaves cooperatively. If exploited, the party temporarily retaliates, then resumes cooperative behavior.
Grooming is the term refers to the process by which child sex offenders/abusers ensnare their victims by befriending them. The abuser will usually pretend to share a common interest with the child or offer them support and advice before persuading them to meet one-to-one. When using the internet for Grooming, the offenders also usually pretend to be children, too. Following a number of cases where Pedophiles have used internet chatrooms or email to befriend children in order to abuse them, public awareness of "Grooming" has grown.
Ground refers to the background that contrasts with the figure in the perceptions of a field. In object perception, the background is called the Ground. In metaphor, Ground refers to the implied similarity between tenor and vehicle. Please see also Figure.
