Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women.
Gender consistency refers to the stage of gender identity in which the child recognizes that a person’s gender is invariant despite changes in the person’s activities or appearance. It is the concept that gender remains the same despite changes in behavior. Gender consistency is also known as Gender constancy.
Gender constancy refers to the concept that one's sex remains the same despite superficial changes in appearance or behavior ; understanding that maleness and femaleness do not change over situations or personal wishes. It is the realization in the young child that one’s gender does not normally change over the life span: when children learn the biological basis of gender and that one's gender does not change. The concept that gender remains the same despite changes in physical appearance, time, and behavior; includes gender identity, gender stability, and gender consistency.
Gender discrimination means denying a job to someone solely on the basis of whether the person is a man or a woman.
