Deutsch: System / Español: Sistema / Português: Sistema / Français: Système / Italiano: Sistema /

System refers to a group of things or parts connected in some way so as to form a whole.A system is also, the body, or a number of bodily organs functioning as a unit.

Modern thermodynamics teaches that there are three basic kinds of systems: isolated, closed, and open. Isolated systems are those which are totally independent of their environment (these exist only in the laboratory). Closed systems are closed to matter (no matter may pass through the boundaries of the system) but are open to energy and information. Open systems are dependent on environment. Matter, energy, and information may pass through the boundaries of open systems.

In psychology, a system refers to a set of interrelated elements that work together to achieve a common goal or function. Systems can be open or closed and can include individuals, groups, organizations, and societies. Examples of systems in psychology include family systems, where the interactions and relationships between family members are studied to understand how the family functions as a whole; and social systems, where individuals and groups interact within a larger community or society. Another example would be an organizational system, where different departments and individuals come together to achieve a common goal or mission of the organization.
