Preventive medicine refers to care that has the aim of preventing disease or its consequences. This includes health care programs aimed at early detection of disease, example pop smears, cervical smears, warding off illnesses by immunisations, and inhibiting further deterioration of the body which includes prophylactic surgery or exercise.
