Counterirritation

Counterirritation refers to a pain control technique that involves inhibiting pain in one part of the body by stimulating or mildly irritating another area, sometimes adjacent to the area in which the pain is experienced; a process by which we may try to reduce pain by itching or poking a point on our skin around where the pain is felt. Likewise, Counterirritation is the use of mild pain to block more intense or long-lasting pain.
