Confabulation refers to a a tactic used by individuals who are memory impaired in which they unconsciously make up false answers or stories in an attempt to hide their memory loss or inability to recall; also usually seen in Cognitive disorders. Confabulation is making up an answer to a question and then accepting the invented information as if it were a memory.

Confederate refers to an accomplice of the experimenter who pretends to be a regular participant in an experiment.
