Diastole

Diastole is a period of filling of the heart between contractions, that is, resting phase of the heart

Diastolic

Diastolic is arterial blood pressure during Diastole, when the heart is resting while measuring blood pressure.

Diastolic pressure

Diastolic pressure refers to a measure of blood pressure between contractions of the heart.

Diathesis

Diathesis is a term in the Diathesis-stress model of psychopathology referring to a vulnerability (example, whether genetic or psychological) to develop a particular disorder.

Diathesis-stress in psychology refers to a theoretical framework used to understand the interaction between predispositional vulnerabilities (diathesis) and environmental stressors in the development of psychological disorders. The model posits that mental health conditions result from the interaction between an individual's genetic, biological, or psychological predisposition and the impact of stressful life experiences.

Diathesis-stress model

Diathesis-stress model refers to a theory of stress that suggests that some individuals are vulnerable to stress-related illnesses because they are genetically predisposed to those illnesses.
Diathesis-stress model refers also to the proposal that people are born with a predisposition (or "diathesis") that places them at risk for developing a psychological disorder if exposed to certain extremely stressful life experiences. Moreover, it refers to hypothesis that both an inherited tendency/ vulnerability and specific stressful conditions are required to produce a disorder.
